Have you been praying for something that just has not happened yet? Is there something you have been waiting on for quite some time? Is there something you have just quit asking for? Have you give up? You believed at first things could be different but that has long passed. You tried to keep the faith, as some would say, it you have just grown weary. You have quit trying because it seems to always end in futility. So, you are tired of waiting and are ready to give up! Take a minute to read these few verses.

Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has five roofed colonnades. In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed. One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath.  (John 5:2-9)

I think on the first day someone believed this man would be healed. I believe on the 7th days someone thought he would be made complete. I believe someone somewhere was praying. I believe people came and went. People had hope and gave up. This man had a place, a place that revealed he had been here a long time – too long. He had given up the thought of walking but still wanted to walk.

I don’t know how long you have been waiting. I don’t know how many people have came and went. I don’t know many people have come along your side with great hope and left in disappointment. I don’t know if Jesus will “fix” your situation, but I know he has in the past. I know he can. I don’t know if he will. But one thing I do know, it is still worth hope. It is still worth prayer. It ain’t dead until God kills it. Stay strong and continue on.
